Technology in Pediatric Weight Management – What do Parents Want?

In a recent paper, Bianchi-Hayes et al. (2015) studied caregivers’ attitudes towards traditional and technology-based approaches in pediatric weight management.

More than two-thirds of caregivers of adolescents (11 – 18 years) with a BMI≥85th percentile reported preference for a weight management program with both traditional and technology components. Interestingly, compared to parents who were not concerned about children’s weights, parents who perceived their child’s weight to be a problem were more likely to want technology incorporated into the traditional weight management approach.
